Corporate Dusit International to enter Indian hospitality market NEW DELHI: Thailand-based hotel services player Dusit International is foraying into the Indian hospitality sector with plans to secure management operations of six hotels in India by 2010. The company has entered into a joint venture with hospitality major Bird Hospitality Services (BHS) under which Dusit would provide its brand name to six hotels and resorts in various Indian cities including New Delhi, Goa, Rishikesh and Jaipur, Dusit In ternational said in a statement. “The Indian market is already a huge potential travel market. In support of the joint venture with Bird Group to develop hotels and resorts in India, we have also seen the growth of this inbound market for our hotels and resorts in Thailand and the Middl e East,” said the Dusit International Senior Vice President Mr Octavio Gamarra said. Under the JV, Bird would develop six hotels and resorts initially in New Delhi, Goa, Rishikesh and Jaipur. The first hotel, Dusit Thani Delhi, would be operational in the first quarter of 2010 calendar year. The company, however, did not disclose details regarding the investments involved or planned inventory strength in setting up the India operations. “With the joint venture, we will be combining the hospitality expertise of Dusit International and the lo cal network and knowledge of Bird Hospitality to give India hotels and resorts that will redefine the standards of hospitality in the country,” Bird Group Executive Director Mr Ankur Bhatia said. Dusit presently manages 26 hotels and resorts under five hotel brands and one spa brand in Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Egypt. - PTI
