Govt/States GCMMF asks Anand Collector to conduct election for top post AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has asked Anand district Collector to conduct elections for the Chairman's post following expiry of the term on October 17. “We have written a letter to the Collector to announce the schedule for conducting elections for the post of the Federation's chairman,” outgoing Chairman of GCMMF, Parthi Bhatol said. Bhatol was elected as the head of the Federation in March 2006 and his term expired on October 17. Anand District Collector, R N Joshi said that he had appointed a Deputy Collector as election officer. “I have already appointed Deputy Collector as election officer to announce the date and conduct the election for GCMMF Chairman,” he said. Joshi, however, refused to comment when the schedule is likely to be announced. Meanwhile, several members of the Federation have raised questions on the government's motive behind “delay in conducting the election without any reason.” “We do not know why the administration has still not announced the date of the poll despite the fact that the term of the Chairman expired on October 17 and currently the Federation is headless,” Amul Dairy Chairman and Congress MLA Ramsingh Parmar said. - PTI
