Televising the World Cup

THE giant electronic screen installed at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium in Chennai was developed by Mitsubishi Electric and was brought to India from Melbourne.

The TNCA's Ashok Kumbhat says the association has plans to use the screen to showcase other events such as the forthcoming World Cup football tournament, Formula-1 races and tennis tournaments.

In addition, the screen could also be used to show cricket matches being played in other parts of the country and across the world as well, he adds.

According to Kumbhat, these events can even be sponsored by corporates who wish to target a specific segment, say, motor-racing enthusiasts. He adds that the TNCA is in the process of crystallising its strategy for the use of this new medium.
