Vineet Shrivastava
Vineet Shrivastava is business manager in the strategic business development unit and solution architect for the BPO business at LogicaCMG. He is responsible for IT outsourcing strategy, business development and supports LogicaCMG's `Win Business' activities globally. He is involved in large deals and business transformation activities. Vineet has a bachelor's degree in computer science and Executive PGP from Indian Institute for Management, Kolkata. On what B-school taught him B-School taught me the real "fundas" of business that are necessary when working in the real world. On a more practical level, I learnt to think through the available options before embarking on the implementation of a strategy. A strategy at the highest level almost always looks perfect, but falls apart when put through the exacting rigours of implementation to the last level. On what B-schools must teach I think the quality of humility is of the utmost importance. Many of us walk out of B-schools thinking that we are ready to conquer the world. That level of confidence is necessary, but when it turns into arrogance it alienates you from many people who really matter. On a defining moment at B-school There was no single moment. But, there were moments of magic when you realised that the concepts taught were meaningful as it gave structure to your thinking, that it was all about "We" rather than just `I', that it not just about quantitative constructs but qualitative decision making. On applying what he learnt at the B-school B-school gave me the strong structural foundation to operate in any industry, the confidence to lead and the ambition to set my sights high. But, the real world also taught me that calculated risk-taking yields exponential results.
