Train services along the eastern and south-eastern routes were partially affected on Thursday morning owing to the countrywide strike called by the Opposition parties to protest against diesel price hike, FDI in retail and cap on subsidised LPG.
According to an Eastern Railway spokesperson, train services remained normal except for sporadic obstructions at several stations on both Howrah and Sealdah divisions this morning. Services were normalised by 8 am, he added.
A South Eastern Railway spokesperson said six trains on the Puri-Howrah route were cancelled due to obstructions on the East Coast Railway. He added that more than 15 trains along the south-eastern and far south routes were detained this morning.
