The US Consulate General, Chennai, will organise ‘Experience America’ event in Mangalore from February 28 to March 2.

A press release said here that ‘Experience America’ will showcase several leading American companies and food outlets; and feature speech and quiz contests, music and debate competitions; and seminars on higher education, visas, tourism, and business investment opportunities in the US.

The event is being held outside Chennai in order to showcase the US Consulate’s educational and cultural resources, including the services of the American Library, the US-India Educational Foundation, and the US Commercial Service, it said.

The release said there will be an inter-collegiate speech competition on ‘India’s emerging regional role in South and Central Asia’ at St Aloysius College in Mangalore on March 1.

There will be ‘Poetry Slam’ contest, ‘InfoUSA Trivia’ contest, and ice-cream eating and tasting contest at City Centre Mall in Mangalore on March 2, it added. Meanwhile, a statement by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said here that Judy Reinke, Minister Counsellor for Commercial Affairs, American Embassy, New Delhi, will inaugurate the ‘American business corner’ at KCCI premises on March 1.

James Golsen, Principal Commercial Officer, US Consulate General, Chennai, will speak on ‘Doing business with US’ on the occasion, it added. — Our Bureau
