The State Government proposed to enter into a dialogue with trade union leaders with the aim of improving performance of public sector undertakings under the industries department.

The government will engage with representatives of unions in each of these undertakings, P.K. Kunhalikkutty, Minister for Industries and IT, said.

He said this during an initial round of talks with trade unions here. A State-level committee would be set up to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.

The Minister said the government was actively considering revision of wages in those undertakings which have been working in loss for years together.

It was also seized of the need for enhanced marketing opportunities for products from State Drugs and Pharmaceuticals; United Electrical Industries and Traco Cable.
