HYDERABAD, Jan. 27 AMARESWARA Agri-Tech Ltd (AATL), a Hyderabad-based hybrid seed company, has tied up with Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (MML) for marketing its products across the country and also in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. AATL currently has 150 distributors in 10 States while the tractor manufacturing major has 450 distributors in all the States in India and also in the neighbouring countries. The AATL Managing Director, Mr K. Prasad, told Business Line that this marketing tie-up would ensure the availability of his company's Amar brand of seeds all over the country. Besides, ``it will provide value addition to farmers as the strengths of AATL in research and production shall be added to the strengths of marketing network of MML''. Mr Prasad said AATL had entered into a technical collaboration with BASF India Ltd for transferring herbicide resistant gene into popular varieties of paddy. The company had also entered into an agreement with the Delhi-based Indian Agricultural Research Institute to promote the latter's hybrid basmati Pusa RH-10 and two other basmati varieties Pusa Sugandh-2 and Pusa Sugandh-3. Keeping the biotechnology leap in mind, AFTL has entered into collaboration with Leckat Corporation of Malaysia and Heinz Seeds Corporation of the US. The Malaysian company would offer hybrid seeds of watermelon, muskmelon, cabbage and cauliflower. While the American company would provide hybrids of tomatoes, Mr Prasad said. AATL currently produces seed in an extent of 10,000 acres spread over various States. It clocked a turnover of Rs 42 crore last year. It currently markets hybrids of cotton, maize, jowar, bajra, sorghum, paddy, sunflower, soybean and a variety of vegetables.
