CII hails move to ease export, import norms

NEW DELHI, Dec. 27

THE President of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Mr Ashok Soota, today welcomed the announcement by the Chairman, CBEC, Mr M.K. Zutshi, that the Government will allow automatic imports and exports without physical inspection from March next year.

The CBEC Chairman made the statement at the Board of Trade meeting which was held here today. Speaking at the meeting, the CII President called for a region-specific strategy to take India's exports to over $80 billion by 2007.
