Hyderabad , March 1

SOUTHERN Spice Music (SS Music), the Chennai-based 24-hour music channel, which is on course to expand its programme bouquet, is scouting for VJ's across southern cities and has partnered with several chains such as Qwicky's, Coffee Day, Music World and the like to reach out The VJ Factor.

Addressing a press conference here at Bottles & Chimney on Monday, Mr Bryan Oliver Peppin, Head Programming and Production, for SS Music and VJ's Usha and Prem, announced that SS Music was on a VJ Hunt and is looking for youngsters with humour, attitude, style, spontaneity and are basically multilingual.

The VJ factor has been sponsored by Sand Piper along with associate sponsors, AirTel and Sify, the latter as Online partner. Cine actors and associates are also expected to join the panel of judges to pick up the right fit. In order to reach out the message and attract the target group, Southern Spice has planned road shows and has placed dispensers at entertainment centres including theatres, music showrooms and other youth hangouts.

In less than three years, the music channel has become popular and self-sustaining after initial investments of about Rs 5 crore. In order to broaden the programme portfolio and to cater to larger audience it has decided to go ahead with the VJ Factor.

This move was made to support new programme formats that require fresh talent. Talent scouting has been completed in Bangalore and Chennai and plans are to go to Cochin, they said.
