Advertising Mohan Menon of O&M hangs up his boots Our Bureau
Chennai , April 27 MOHAN Menon, Ogilvy's Director (South), has decided to take a break from advertising after a career spanning 32 years at the agency, his first and only job till now. Mr Menon, says a release from Ogilvy, was hired as a cub copywriter at Ogilvy in Mumbai by Mr Ranjan Kapur and went on to become the Creative Director of the Chennai and Bangalore offices. Later on he became a `suit' and was Head of Office in Chennai. Mr Menon was also closely involved with Ogilvy's Sri Lankan operations during the pre- and post-acquisition phase. He is a graduate of senior management programmes in Toronto and New York and was one-time visiting faculty at IIM, Ahmedabad. Mr Menon, the release said, drew a lot of inspiration from the legendary David Ogilvy with whom he had spent time over the years (Mr Ogilvy had invited Mohan and his wife Minnie, to Touffou in France, as his houseguests). Mr Miles Young, Ogilvy's Chairman for the Asia Pacific Region, described Mr Menon as `a gentleman with brains, in the true Ogilvy tradition. Mr Piyush Pandey, Ogilvy India's Executive Chairman said, "Mohan embodied the very best of Ogilvy values. Behind the relaxed look one could always see an intense Ogilvy warrior, doing everything in his ability to make the organisation shine."
