Chennai , June 10 CNI, a Malaysia-based multi-level marketing company, is set to begin operations in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Vincent Selvarajoo, Senior Manager (Sales & Marketing), CNI Enterprise (India) Pvt Ltd, said the company had set up operations in India in 2001 but entered the market (Karnataka) only last year after getting various official approvals and conducting market research. The company now markets 10 products through its distributors. It has roped in more than 3,000 distributors in Karnataka, where it has set up seven distribution centres. The products include a ginseng-coffee mix, a mentholated rub for aches and pains, non-fluoride toothpaste, Vitamin C supplements, soaps and royal jelly moisturiser. CNI has tied up with local manufacturers for these products but plans to set up its own factory eventually. CNI aims to enrol 5,000 distributors in Tamil Nadu by the end of this year. It is mulling a Mumbai branch in the next couple of months, Mr Selvarajoo said. India would become a gateway and manufacturing hub for the other countries CNI plans to enter, which include China, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Asia and Africa, Mr Selvarajoo said. CNI is present in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Brunei. It has a million distributors in Indonesia, garnered through its `Let's fight poverty' campaign, and four lakh distributors in Malaysia. CNI, whose global turnover stands at $200 million, aims to become a $1-billion company by 2010. It also hopes to become a countrywide player in India by that year.
