A NEW range of Gaitonde shoes that are to be unveiled next month would be sold only through multi-brand outlets as the company has decided to stay away from maintaining exclusive showrooms.

The company has undergone significant changes in the recent past. Its exclusive showrooms have been shut, and it has also decided to stick to selling only shoes unlike an earlier phase when it also sold leather garments and accessories.

Though the company officials declined to speak on the issue, industry sources said that Gaitonde had decided to stay out of the retail distribution part of the business.

After a difficult phase, the company's management is once again trying to build the Gaitonde brand, said industry sources.
