Promotions & Offers Oscar bid to push DVD players Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 29 Consumer electronics brand, Oscar, in a bid to expand consumer base and introduce the consumers to the true potential of a DVD player, has unveiled an attractive offer in the market - a free 5.1 home theatre system with its top of the line DVD 9200. "We want to ensure that home theatre entertainment does not remain an elitist concept and want to rationalise prices in this segment," said Mr Satish Verma, Chairman and Managing Director. While consumers in the value for money segment are shifting towards the superior technology of DVD players, they need to understand that to fully enjoy DVD audio, one needs a 5.1 home theatre system with real surround sound, he added. Agreeing that there are other players in the market offering home theatre systems with DVD players, he said: "It is always a 2.1 home theatre system, which has no more than a stereo effect. Therefore, Oscar's trial offer of a free 5.1 system along with its DVD player will enable consumers to experience first-hand the true performance of a DVD player." The DVD 9200 is priced at Rs 4,990 (inclusive of all taxes) in north India except Rajasthan and Rs 5,490 in the southern States and Rajasthan. The offer is not available in the western region. The company is targeting a sale of over 10,000 units per month in the upcoming festive period, he said.
