SBT offers higher rates for senior citizens

STATE Bank of Travancore (SBT) will offer higher rates of interest on long-term deposits of five years and above with effect from December 15.

The rate of interest for a deposit of five years and above will be 6.50 per cent (annualised rate of 7.60 per cent) as against the present rate of six per cent, according to a statement from the bank.

Senior citizens will be eligible for an additional 50 basis points (0.50 per cent) for deposits of Rs 5,000 and above. The effective rate for them for a deposit of five years and above will be as high as 7 per cent.
