Hardware Marketing - New Products & Services Cadence unveils radio frequency design kit Our Bureau
Bangalore , Dec. 13 THE wireless IC consumption worldwide stands at $43.8 billion in 2005. It is all set to rise with gadgets such as MP3 players and digicams going wireless. "They will soon be able to send and receive data to computers wirelessly," said Ms Kelly Perey, Vice-President, Verticals Marketing, Cadence Design Systems Inc, a US-based electronic design and chip IP company. The company launched a radio frequency (RF) design methodology kit based on 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN. The RF kit is the third offered by the company and helps wireless chip designers link system-level design with chip implementation. It also helps verify complete wireless designs. Future plans for the company include work on PCI Express and system-in-a-package in the first half of 2006. Hi-tech manufacturers in a hurry to get their product ready would find this method of manufacturing cost-effective, informed Ms Perey. For high-volume products, they will benefit from the system-on-a-chip (SoC) method, she added. The company will focus on Digital TV, Wireless LAN and PCI Express in the wireless domain and has partnered with The Mathworks. "We are looking to partner with third party IP providers," said Ms Perey. Speaking about manufacturing in India, Mr Rahul Arya, Marketing Manager, Cadence India & SAARC, felt that India had to "ramp up the infrastructure." The company also announced the launch of an Electronic-Design- Automation (EDA) contest. Undergraduate (B.Tech) and graduate (M.Tech) students were invited to showcase analogue mixed signal/digital design projects.
