Chennai Feb. 4 SRM Technologies, part of the SRM Group of Institutions, is expanding its presence in the Japanese market. The company which provides IT services related to embedded systems, migration and networking, has recently set up a third office in Japan at Fukuoka. It has offices in Tokyo and Osaka and about 95 per cent of its revenues come from Japanese clients.

"Fukuoka has many automobile companies and IT companies have not focused here so far. With our prior experience in servicing companies such as Hitachi, we will be able to capture a major chunk of the Fukuoka market and later other parts of Japan," Mr P. Sathyanarayanan, Managing Director, SRM Technologies, said on the sidelines of a press conference .

The company also plans to ramp up its Indian operations at Chennai. "By third quarter of next fiscal we will add about 75 to 80 people," he said.

Besides marketing its services in Japan, the company, in collaboration with SRM University, also offers IT and related business management training to employees of Japanese companies. According to Mr Sathyanarayanan, Japanese employees lack skills and exposure to handle global IT businesses. "SRM Technologies is in talks with companies in the US to offer similar programmes. He inaugurated the business management training programme for the second batch of middle management employees of NEC Communication Systems. The five-week fully residential programme costing $2,000 per person will focus on English language training, negotiation skills, cross cultural exposure and IT related management skills. It will be conducted at the SRM University campus.

The company conducts about 5-6 such training programmes a year with companies such as Oki and Shigeru Information Systems participating in them.
