New Delhi May 14 TV 18 Group and Infosys BPO have announced the launch of SOURCE 18, a media outsourcing services company. SOURCE 18 will provide a full spectrum of services including digital archiving and metatagging, repurposing content, work flow charting, ideation and re-editing to media and entertainment companies globally. It already has National Geographic Channel International as a client. While Infosys BPO will deliver the process and technological support, TV 18 will bring its domain knowledge and expertise in media to the initiative. "Globally, the entertainment business has become a multi-trillion dollar business and we look at this as a multimillion-dollar opportunity," said Mr Haresh Chawla, Group CEO of TV 18. He refused to divulge figures regarding investment in the new initiative, but said that the companies were in talks with international media businesses and that investments would be scaled up as operations grow. SOURCE 18 will offer services like promo production, traffic management and uplinking and inventory management, besides covering analytics, finance and accounting. The company will utilise the services of Tangerine Digital Entertainment, which specialises in content repurposing and media process, for part-execution of the contracts. Globally, the media and entertainment industry is expected to grow to $2 trillion by 2008, with a proliferation of content in multiple formats across media platforms.
