Regulatory body for medical devices

New Delhi, Sept. 22

With a view to keep a check on the quality of medical devices, the Department of Science and Technology has sought to introduce a legislation to enforce uniform standards for such equipment.

“The Government has proposed to create a regulatory authority to establish and maintain a national system of certification relating to quality, safety, efficacy and availability of medical devices,” Mr Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Scien ce and Technology and Earth Sciences, said at a press conference. —
