ENN launches digital signage in tie-up with Helius Inc

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Feb. 12 Elevator News Network (ENN), in association with Helius Inc of Canada (a global player in business-class data broadcasting), on Tuesday launched digital signage services in Kolkata.

The service (to be introduced in phases) will be available, according to Mr Asok Sharma, CEO of ENN, at select office properties, malls and mega housing complexes.

The service will enable delivery of video and data content to digital displays, replacing printed signage. Using a sophisticated distribution system of digital video file servers and the Internet, a video signal will be delivered to each screen, providing a steady rotation of information generated and updated by a production office and a mother server located in New York.

According to company officials, such signage will allow the provider and retailer the opportunity to interact with their prospects on the sales floor, directly influencing purchase decisions. It is stated that the newsroom will generate up-to-the minute programming throughout the day, covering general news, business, sports, market updates and weather and traffic information.

According to Mr Sharma, the system, already installed in dozens of Canadian office towers, was generating significant revenue and has received positive response from property managers, owners and tenants. ENN plans to install 1000 screens in India by 2009.

Pointing out that time was ripe for Helius to enter the Indian market, Mr George Phillipakos, Senior Vice-President, Operations, of the company said, “So far we had concentrated on the US market as we wanted to build our infrastructure and perfect our service”. Helius offers a portfolio of digital signage, training, distance learning and content distribution network.
