Visakhapatnam, Feb. 26 Eureka Forbes launched its new water purifier, Aquaguard Total Gold Nova, here on Tuesday. Earlier, it had been launched in Hyderabad.

Mr A.V. Suresh, President (direct sales), said on the occasion that the UV-based product was particularly suited for the city, as it would remove pesticide residues in water. “The new product is an electrical on-line ultraviolet-based water purifier designed for use in areas having water with levels of TDS (total dissolved solids) of 300 ppm. It uses the nano-silver activated carbon block developed in collaboration with IIT, Chennai. It is specifically meant for pesticide residue removal,” he explained.

He said it would cost Rs 9,000-10,000, with a warranty period of one year. “In other areas, we are selling reverse osmosis-based water purifiers. We study the needs of the particular area and sell our products accordingly,” he said and claimed that the company was the pioneer in direct selling in the country.

He said the company was also working on a lead-removal system and also on fluorine removal systems. “We know several parts of AP are facing fluorine problem. We are also working on a particular product for such areas,” he said.

He said the company was expecting a turnover of around Rs 550 crores in the water purifier segment by the end of the current fiscal. “We touch 6 million homes in the country. We are operating in 98 cities and we have expanded into 480 smaller cities,” he said.
