India-S Africa series telecast

New Delhi, March 24

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided not to declare the upcoming India -South Africa test cricket series as a sporting event of “national importance.” As a result, Doordarshan viewers will not get to watch the match. Last year, after a fall-out between Prasar Bharati and the broadcaster Nimbus Communications, which owns the rights to air all BCCI matches played in the country between national teams, the Government had introduced a Bill to ma ke sharing of live signals mandatory for any event it deemed of national importance. Thus, Neo Sports will telecast the series which starts on March 26.
