Radio/TV Dish TV posts higher losses in first quarter Our Bureau New Delhi, June 28 Direct-to-home operator Dish TV has posted a higher net loss at Rs 125.4 crore for the first quarter of current financial year against a loss of Rs 89.7 crore for the same period last year. Dish TV has increased its net sales by 84 per cent to Rs 164.4 crore during the period from Rs 89.2 crore in the same quarter the previous year. “We believe in foreseeing the future and have set a new benchmark in the DTH category by launching the much awaited free set-top box offer. Going forward, the company will continue with a strategy that focuses both on subscriber growth and revenue enhancement… The revenue enhancement has come from multiple sources, new adoptions and higher rate of renewals as well as bandwidth charges that has now built into a steady stream,” said its Chairman, Mr Subhash Chandra, in a press release. The company added 4.01 lakh new subscribers during the quarter, which is up 41 per cent from the previous quarter ending March 31, 2008. Advertising expenses also increased by 16 per cent to Rs 26 crore compared with the previous quarter ending March 31. More Stories on : Radio/TV
