3Com, TCS tie up for AP project

Hyderabad, Nov. 25

The US-based 3Com Corporation has entered into an agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to build the Andhra Pradesh State Wide Area Network (APSWAN) project that the latter bagged. 3Com would provide enterprise switching, routing and security solutions for the project aimed at connecting all the 23 district offices in the State. The five-year project is being taken up in the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model. “The network would enable the Govern ment departments to start and run various citizen services, giving a boost to e-governance structure,” Ms Rose Chen, Vice-President and General Manager, 3Com Asia-Pacific, said here in a press release. The network would enable the members to communicate and conference across all offices over VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
