A lower percentage of candidates passed in the chartered accountants’ final examination held in November last year.
Of the 32,536 candidates (both groups) who appeared for the final exam, the number of those who passed both groups in this attempt stood at only 1013, resulting in a pass percentage of 3.11 per cent.
The pass percentage this time is very low and certainly lower than the previous occasion (May 2013), sources in the CA Institute said.
This pass percentage for both the groups put together is the lowest in probably the last 15 years, sources added.
While the pass percentage in Group I was 5.67 per cent, it was 7.35 per cent for Group II.
“It is purely the performance of the students and there is not extraneous reason for slippage in pass percentage” said Subodh Agarwal, President of the CA Institute.
