Roadways AP fiat on road projects Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Jan. 1 THE State Government has directed the concerned officials to complete the 13 World Bank supported projects that envisaged widening and strengthening of roads at a length of 1,400 km. At a high-level meeting held here on Wednesday, Mr Tummala Nageswara Rao, Minister for Roads and Buildings, reviewed the progress of works and asked the officials concerned to complete them by March. "Of the total target of 1,400 km, a length of 1,313 km has been covered so far," the Minister said in a press release. The meeting also reviewed the progress of works on 14 road-over-bridges (RoBs). "Works on the four RoBs have been completed," the release said. Giving an explanation on the delay in works, the officials cited issues such as land acquisition, shifting of utilities like telephone cables, power lines, water supply lines, and obtaining permission from Commissioner for Railway Safety as the main reasons for the delay. The meeting has fixed monthly targets to complete the remaining works.
