Chennai , March 4

COCA-COLA India launched the Chennai leg of its Olympic Torchbearer nomination programme on Thursday to select three torchbearers from the city.

The company is reportedly going to select 42 torchbearers and seven escort runners from across the country through the nomination programme. The team will participate in the global relay of the Olympic flame in Delhi on June 10.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Y. Srinivasa Rao, Area General Manager, Coca-Cola India, said that the nominations would be conducted through a competition for school children titled `Recognise Inspiration', where they would be asked to write an essay on the person who inspires them the most. Apart from this, the key account holders of the company would also be given an opportunity to nominate participants for the relay.

"The nominations would be screened by a panel of judges and the lucky few would be invited to New Delhi by Coca-Cola India to participate in the historic event," said Mr Rao.
