Telecommunications People Infocom plans to double headcount at Mumbai centre Moumita Bakshi Chatterjee
New Delhi , Aug. 11 PEOPLE Infocom Pvt Ltd, which provides mobile content and applications under the brandname `Mauj Telecom' is planning to double the headcount at its Mumbai development centre to about 220 professionals in the next three months and would also set up offices in the Philippines, Indonesia and South Africa. "We currently have about 110 professionals in our development facility in Mumbai. We plan to double the number of people in this centre in the next three months by recruiting additional programmers and designers. "We are also mulling an additional development centre in the next phase of growth over the next 6-8 months, and we will start looking for space in either Bangalore, Pune or Delhi by the year-end," Mr Arun Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Mauj Telecom, said here. Mr Gupta said that in the third phase the company would likely look at a development centre in the CIS region. With its marketing offices currently located in Delhi and Chennai, the company is also planning to set up offices in Pune and Kolkata shortly. "As far as the overseas market is concerned, we already have operations in London, New York and Dubai. By the end of this year, we plan to establish a direct presence in the Philippines, Indonesia and South Africa, where we are currently operating through partners and operators," Mr Gupta added. Mauj Telecom sells content to portals of operators such as Idea, Hutch, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd, Reliance and Tatas, and also provides content to Internet companies, including Rediff. "We also market the content directly to consumers," he said, adding that content services entails news, cricket scores, jokes, astrology, mobile gaming, bluetooth gaming, ringtones and wallpaper.
