Chennai , Oct. 25 PAY Re 1 and take away an IBM server, and give the balance amount in instalments. This is one of the measures that IBM has adopted in India to tap the small and medium size customers, according to a company official. The scheme is customised to India, and for customers buying IBM products worth over Rs 5 lakh, Mr Jyothi Satyanathan, General Manager, eServer pSeries and OpenPower, IBM Systems & Technology Group, told newspersons. The scheme was launched in the last quarter, and the response had been good, he said while declining to give the number of customers who had availed themselves of the scheme. According to Mr Satyanathan, banks were unwilling to provide loans of around Rs 5 lakh to customers. IBM, through its IBM Global Financing, provides finance to help small and medium size business (SMB) customers. IBM has also introduced a city server bazaar to take the company's products to smaller towns.
