Symantec to set up another facility

Our Bureau

Pune, Oct. 12

Symantec Corporation, a storage and server applications company, is now on the look out for setting up another location in the country.

By the next financial year, the location of the new centre would be finalised, said Mr Robert Soderbery, Senior Vice-President, Data Management Centre, Storage Foundation Group.

He said the new centre would also house a research and development centre and that about six to seven locations have been short-listed for the new centre.

Mr Soderbery said the company, which has brought into its fold the entire range of products of Veritas Corporation, is investing in two new management products — Command Central Storage and Storage Foundation Management server.

He said that about 50 per cent of the work was being carried out from Pune with 90 employees working on the project.

These products would hit the market by the middle of the next year.

He added that the data centre market was a huge opportunity and that data centres were standardising on their storage foundation. This brought down the costs and increased service levels.
