Bangalore , Nov. 21

Magma Design Automation Inc., a chip design solutions provider, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Knights Technology from FEI Company.

A press release from the company while announcing the acquisition did not disclose the consideration for the same. The acquisition is expected to enable a tighter integration between Magma's design software and semiconductor manufacturing. The company plans to bring design intent into Knights' CAD navigation tools, enabling product engineers to analyse manufactured ICs for both systematic and parametric defects. Magma expects Knights' products to contribute approximately $1.5 million to its total revenue for the rest of the company's financial year after purchase accounting adjustments.
