First Hyderabad film fest from March 23

Hyderabad March 4 The Hyderabad Film Club and Andhra Pradesh Film Directors' Association have teamed up to host the maiden Hyderabad International Film Festival (HIFF) from March 23-29.

To be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the event is expected to attract about 100 films from abroad and a good number from various parts of the country.

DIFFERENT SECTIONS

Speaking to newspersons, Mr B. Narasinga Rao, film director and artist, said that the idea was to expose film buffs and budding filmmakers to some well-made films from all over the globe.

The festival will have sections such as World Cinema, World Classics, Focus on a country, Indian Cinema, Telugu Cinema, Homage and Tributes, and short and documentary films.

Besides, the organisers will host seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions every day.

SMALL BEGINNING

Mr Tammareddy Bharadwaja, veteran film producer, said that the organisers would conduct the second edition on a much bigger scale early next year.

There will be a competition of short and documentary films produced in 2005 and 2006.
