Software ADP expanding India operations Our Bureau
Hyderabad March 30 ADP, the Indian subsidiary of the $9.5-billion Automatic Data Processing Inc, has announced plans to expand its operations in India at Hyderabad and the creation of a new business continuity centre in Pune. ADP Inc, which is set to spin off one its major units into a newly listed company Broadridge, has announced its decision to hive off all the work relating to it handled out of India into another unit. The President and Chief Executive Officer of ADP Inc, Mr Gary C. Butler, said the new company, with revenues of about $2 billion, would be listed separately from April 2 and all the work being handled for the company in Hyderabad both technology and support would be handled through a separate entity. The ADP arm in India now employs about 2,100 people both in technology and support operations and of this about 400 would be in the new company. In addition, the company plans to add about 500 people in Hyderabad over the next 12 months. Speaking about the company business continuity centre in Pune, Mr Butler said this had commenced operations in Pune with about 100 people and it is likely that this would be expanded to about 500 people by the end of this year. ADP, which was initially planning a campus in Hyderabad, has decided against it and will operate out of leased premises. The company has thus far invested about $100 million in Indian operations across Pune and Hyderabad. The Managing Director of ADP in India, Mr Shakti Sagar, said "the company operations have expanded significantly in the last few years and we expect to further ramp this up over the next 12 months."
