Plans separate PC division in India

Hyderabad May 27 The Computer Systems Division of Toshiba Singapore has announced the launch of a new family of laptops featuring dual hard drives and many facilities that address the changing digital entertainment lifestyles.

These laptops also incorporate television and entertainment features.

Toshiba, which currently addresses the Indian market for laptops from its Singapore base, is planning to carve out a separate division in India to address the rapidly growing market. It expects such a move to help address the market catering to specific local needs.

The launch covered four models priced from Rs 90,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Sivakumar N., Head of Toshiba India (PC Division), said that India is set to witness to a shift in terms of laptop adoption. Growing personal and SME requirement, apart from the replacement market, presents a huge market for Toshiba, he added.
