Tutors Worldwide to hire more

Chennai May 27 Tutors Worldwide India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Socratic Learning Inc of the US, is planning to increase its headcount to 1,000 by the end of this year from its present 380.

The KPO is an online educational service provider offers "end-to-end solutions" in the areas of student, teacher, and educational programme development.

According to Mr V. Mahalingam, Director and Chief Operating Officer, the company is set to expand its operations during the year in the US.

"Apart from planning to tap the retail market in the academic sector in a big way, we are also working on providing grade-specific educational content and teaching modules to institutions and publishers," he said. The company is also in talks with a couple of venture capital funds for funding.

Last year, the company registered a turnover of $7 million and it hopes to more than double that in the current year. "So far we are on track. We expect our second half of the year to be better as September-October is the beginning of the academic year in the US," he pointed out.
