Zicom sets up facility in China

Our Bureau

New Delhi, June 25

Mumbai-based Zicom Electronic Security Systems (ZESS) has set up a manufacturing plant in Shenzhen in China for fire alarm systems, home security systems and other such security equity. The facility will be overseen by Zicom Manufacturing Ltd Hong Kong, a subsidiary floated by ZESS recently in Hong Kong. "We hold 76 per cent in the subsidiary. We are also outsourcing some of the manufacturing to companies in the Hong Kong region apart from purchasing equipment from manufacturers like Honeywell. In future, most of our system requirements will be met from our own facility in China," said Mr Rathin Kumar Banerjee, CEO, Security Solutions Group, ZESS. The company is targeting Rs 100-crore turnover from the West Asian market in the current fiscal after its recent acquisition of Dubai-based UNISAFE Fire Protection Specialists LLC. ZESS acquired 49 per cent stake in the company for around Rs 22 crore.
