Harry Potter tops in collections

Mumbai, July 17

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix grossed Rs 9.43 crore nationwide in its first weekend in theatres, according to internal estimates of Warner Bros. The prior record for the studio in India was Superman Returns in 2006. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix brought in a record-breaking $330 million in box office receipts worldwide, making this the biggest Harry Potter opening of all time around the world. Commenting on the opening, Mr Sanjay Narayanan, Marketing Manager, Warner Bros, says: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the third biggest Hollywood movie opening in India beating Pirates of the Caribbean 3 by 13 per cent.

It’s also the second largest opening of a Hollywood film in India for the year 2007 and the biggest opening ever for Warner Bros film in India.
