Kolkata, Nov 15

The 12th Executive Course on Telecom Reform scheduled to be conducted jointly by the Colombo-headquartered Learning Initiatives on Reform for Network Economies – Asia (LIRNEasia) and CONNECTasia Forum Pte Ltd in Singapore between March 2 and 6, 2008, will focus on strategies to achieve connectivity and convergence.

A total of 40 people will attend the course. The attendees will include regulators and senior officials of regulatory agencies, senior regulatory staff at operators and leaders of consumer and other organisations participating in the reform process.

According to LIRNEasia, the course has been designed to enhance the strategic thinking of a select group of decision makers in the telecom and related sectors in the Asia Pacific region and elsewhere.

LIRNEasia is a six-nation, multi-component research study on measuring telecom sector and regulatory performance with emphasis on its effects on the poor and women.

It is a study on reducing transactional costs in agricultural markets.

It also engages in research dissemination programmes and field building programmes to develop Asia-Pacific scholarly networks on ICT policy and regulation supported by LIRNEasia as a viable virtual organisation.
