Tata Teleservices targets 10% market share

Madurai, Nov. 20 Tata Teleservices Ltd is set on achieving 10 per cent incremental market share month-on-month in Tamil Nadu, according to Chief Operating Officer, Tamil Nadu Circle, Mr Srinivas Rao Sarapalli.

Tamil Nadu is one of the largest growing cell phone markets in the country, adding 6 lakh customers every month. Being a late entrant into the market, the current market share of the company is around 5-6 per cent in the State and “We hope to achieve an incremental market share of 10 per cent month-on-month,” he told Business Line here on Tuesday.

The use of the latest CDMA 3G1X technology enables accessibility to Internet in all the handsets and they are offered with multi-various functions to a wide range of customers at competitive tariff and affordable prices, varying from Rs 1,000 to Rs 24,000 and require only limited upgradation of software, he said.

He said the service was offered in 450 towns and another 150 towns would be added in the next six months. The company has established the highest number of exclusive showrooms across the country and in Tamil Nadu the number would be raised from 220 to 300 by the end of this fiscal. With the customer base crossing 20 million in the country, the company has come out with a celebration offer for Deepavali between October 26 and November 25 with a wide range of gifts to attract more customers, he added.
