Tech Mahindra working on IPR solutions

To integrate its digital rights management portfolio with that of iPolicy products

Adith Charlie

Mumbai, Nov 23 Tech Mahindra Ltd is developing solutions that provide intellectual property protection for organisations and facilitate secure exchange of data.

The company aims to enhance security by preventing unwarranted export and infiltration of data.

First, the company has developed an enterprise digital rights management (DRM) product that will give creators control on the distribution of a document.

Tentatively called Inte-leak Guard (ILG), the product also enables specific rights over a document for specific users, according to Mr Sanjeev Mathur, Senior Business Analyst, Tech Mahindra. The product, which is now in the beta testing phase, will be officially launched by January next year.

Audit trail

“All usages of a document including unauthorised attempts to access, print, etc are recorded for auditing purposes. A complete audit trail is also maintained,” he said, adding that the company is contemplating a name change for the software. ILG has been developed by a 35-member dedicated team at Tech Mahindra`s DRM facility in Mumbai. This product will enable the company to service verticals such as banking, financial services and insurance, defence, pharmaceuticals and e-learning, according to Dr Premchand, Vice-President and Business Head, Tech Mahindra.

iPolicy

The company is in the process of filing four patents in DRM, following which it will market its DRM products in the US and Europe, added Mr Mathur.

Tech Mahindra is also evaluating ways to club its DRM products with security management products that came into the company’s fold through the acquisition of Noida- based iPolicy Networks earlier this year, added Mr Mathur.

iPolicy products provide scalable network security and prevent unwanted intrusions into an organisation’s network. The integrated solution – to be officially launched by January next year – will help prevent sensitive data being illegally transmitted out of an organisation, and unsolicited data or viruses from entering into the organisation.
