Gemini Comm bags Rs 260-cr BSNL order

Chennai, Dec. 26 Gemini Communication Ltd has partnered with the Chennai-based Midas Communication Technologies to execute the EDWAS project (broadband corDECT) for BSNL in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana. The order is worth around Rs 260 crore, according to a press release issued by Gemini.

The Enhanced Digital Wireless Access System (EDWAS) will be executed in phases, with the first phase of order of Rs 50 crore in Tamil Nadu. Midas has outsourced the implementation of EDWAS project on a turnkey basis to Gemini, which will implement the project in 150 days. A tender floated by BSNL envisages supply, installation and commissioning of 134 base station controller (BSCs) and 1,340 base station sites in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana. This is to provide voice and broadband data services in these states, the release said.
