Announcements Logistics - Infrastructure Valecha Engg bags Rs 90-cr NHAI order Our Bureau
Mumbai May 31 VALECHA Engineering Ltd, which is engaged in construction of high-end infrastructure and engineering projects, has bagged a major Rs 90-crore contract as part of the Golden Quadrilateral project from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). According to a senior official of the company, the project envisages construction of a 150-km stretch of highway between Satara and Kolhapur. "This order will make a significant contribution to the company's bottomline in the current fiscal," the official told Business Line. The company, which at present has orders worth Rs 300 crore that are under various stages of execution, has also bagged a contract from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for hydraulic piling work at its plant at Kahalgaon in Bihar. "Besides this, there are ongoing projects in Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, while in the eastern sector we have recently completed a Rs 60-crore Guwahati by-pass project," according to the official. With real estate sector picking up, the company has finalised plans to sharpen its focus on construction of high-rise buildings and commercial towers, besides consolidating its core competency that involves construction of irrigation dams, bridges, highways, power projects, railway projects, tunnels, airports and reservoirs. Established in 1957, the company's major source of revenue was construction of roads, which fetched Rs 251 crore in the last 10 years, accounting for 60 per cent of its revenue. This is followed by tunnel construction, which fetched Rs 61.04 crore in the last 10 years (15 per cent of its total revenue) and dams that fetched Rs 41.34 crore (10 per cent).
