THE SIDCO Industrial Estate proposed at Valliyoor, near Tirunelveli is all set to emerge a reality at last.
The estate on a 40-acre land allotted by the Government under `Namakku Naamey' scheme could not see the light for the last four years as the land had been unexpectedly classified under `maichal poromboke' and hence could not be used for industrial purpose, requiring a reclassification from the Department of Revenue and Land Administration.
The reclassification and the `enter upon permission' has finally been given and an order from the Radhapuram Tahsildar is awaited for effecting allotment of plots to aspiring entrepreneurs, it is learnt.
With contributions from the District Administration, SIDCO, the earlier members of the Valliyoor Circle Small Industries Association and the Constituency Development Fund of the local MP, infrastructural facilities had been undertaken in expectation and completed. According to the President of local entrepreneurs association, Mr M. Arulraja, on allotment of the plots, construction of the units would start as more people are willing to join, the sources added.
