`Broadband to drive seamless mobility'

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , April 14

PROLIFERATION of broadband and convergence products are set to drive `seamless mobility' applications where innovation encompasses various aspects of human life, according to Ms Padmashree Warrior, Chief Technology Officer of Motorola Inc., which has revenues of $33 billion.

Ms Warrior, who heads a team of about 5,000 researchers across the globe, believes the future of communication is being driven by development of various applications and building intelligence into devices to be offered to users.

In a chat with Business Line during her visit to commission the Motorola Research Centre in Hyderabad, Ms Warrior said seamless mobility is no longer a dream but a reality. It has begun to touch people in more than one way. For instance, a wireless mobile phone user can actually shift to wireline and vice versa in some networks. The convergence provides the user an advantage since he does not have to bother where to make a call from.

Not mere applications but certain convergence products such as superior mobile devices are helping users switch within the wireless and wireless fidelity environment.
