GDA Tech plans $5-m expansion

GDA Technologies, a US-based electronic product development design company with development centres in Chennai, will invest $5 million in the next 18 months on expansion. This includes increasing the number of employees in Chennai to 300 from the present 200. The company mostly recruits electrical and electronics graduates, according to the company's President, Mr A.G. Karunakaran.

The company, which has clients such as Freescale, Intel, Cisco Systems, NEC and Fujitsu, expects its turnover to be $35 million for fiscal ending March 2007 compared to $18 million last fiscal, he told newspersons. For clients in the embedded, networking and consumer electronics sectors, the company provides product designs. For example, the company designed electronic content inside a set-top-box manufactured by a client, he said.
