Our Bureau

New Delhi April 27 The much-hyped retail joint venture between Bharti and Wal-Mart might not be able to meet the August 15 deadline set to roll out its first store.

"The plans for setting up the stores are on, with recruitment of people having started and the land acquisition under way. But we might not be able to launch the first store in August as planned earlier. We now expect to have the first one operating by March next year," Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel Ltd, told Business Line on the sidelines of a press conference here on Friday.
