India-Aussie semi-final gets top ratings for now

Our Bureau,

New Delhi, Sept. 28

The weekly television audience ratings continue to climb and broadcaster ESPN is hoping it reaches an unparalleled crescendo when the results for the finals are announced next week.

The network’s ESPN and STAR Cricket garnered 63 per cent channel share during the India-Australia semi-final of the ICC World Twenty20 played. The channel says the ratings touched a high of 23.2 TVR (the average for the match stood at 17.9 TVR).

This is a lot higher than the 47.4 channel share that the India-Pakistan non-final match grabbed for the broadcaster’s two channels. TAM Media Research’s viewership ratings for the finals are expected to be phenomenal, says ESPN.

The channel claims, the match also attracted the highest ever viewership amongst women, at 12.8 TVR for the female target group, making it the highest rated programme across the top-3 Hindi mass channels in 2007.
