ESPN moves Delhi HC on sharing of rights

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI: ESPN Software has filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the Government's recent notification making it mandatory for private sports broadcasters to share feed with national broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.

This petition follows a similar one filed by the Dubai-based Taj Television, which owns Ten Sports, in the Bombay High Court.

Ten Sports has alleged that since the acquisition costs of such events run into millions of dollars, sharing of television rights with Doordarshan would result in loss of both advertising and subscription revenue.
