Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has asked the officials to complete deployment of Aadhar card centres across the State by January 20.

The State, which stands first in issuance and utilisation of the unique identity numbers, has decided to scale up pilots to link the public distribution deliveries with the number.

The Minister held a review meeting with IT Principal Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Managing Director Satyanarayana Reddy to discuss the rollout plan.

All the empanelled vendors and implementing agencies for Aadhar deployment in various districts were present.

The State has so far enrolled six crore people under the nation-wide programme and issued 4.7 crore numbers so far. Now that most of the State was covered the State was planning to set up permanent centres.

These centres would not only enrol those who could not join the database but also take care of the corrections. The issuance of numbers to the remaining people is expected to be completed by March 31.
