A caravan of artistes is travelling across Gujarat from October 29 to November 8 to spread the message of cultural diversity and communal harmony.

Musicians, dancers, poets, writers, designers, and film-makers will perform in seven cities — Surat, Ankleshwar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Mehsana, Rajkot and Bhuj.

The caravan is part of a programme called ‘Us Subah Ki Khatir’- Ajwadi Watey (For the Sake of That Dawn), and intends to spread the message of peace, communal harmony and non-violence through artistic expression. It will be joined by villagers in various areas, who will also stage performances

Flagged off by danseuse Mallika Sarabhai from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Monday, the caravan includes the Siddi Goma Tribal Dance Group, Avni Sethi, a classical dancer from Ahmedabad, the Odyssey Rock band from Surat, Sufi singer, Dhruv Sangari from Delhi and Namrata Pamnani, a Kathak dancer.
